Getting Started with MedianSoft Joiner-Converter
edianSoft Joiner-Converter is a program for converting audio and video files to AVI and MPEG formats and for simple video editing such as cutting and joining movie fragments, inserting transition effects, and extracting audio segments from video clips.
Since Joiner-Converter uses codecs installed in your operating system for its operations, the program's correct functioning is only possible when you are using stable, up-to-date versions of those codecs. Codecs can easily be downloaded at their manufacturers' web sites - for instance, the latest DivX codec can be found at http://www.divx.com/divx/download/, or the XviD codec can be downloaded from: http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml, etc.
To make sure the required codecs are installed, run Joiner-Converter. and, at the lower part of the program window, under the Conversion Output section, you will find the Video Encoder drop-down list. By default, this option is set to Uncompressed during the program's startup.
This means that each of the output file frames will be stored in their uncompressed format (and, hence, the corresponding file size will be larger). At the program's startup, the Video Encoder drop-down list remains in a disabled state while the project contains no files, i.e. while the Source Files list is empty.
Using the Add Clip button on the toolbar at the top of the program window, add a video/audio file to the project or simply "drag and drop" the file to the Source Files list.
Open the Video Encoder drop-down list and check out the list of codecs available for conversion. If the list does not contain a required codec, download it from the manufacturer's web site. Do the same for the audio codecs, by opening the Audio Encoders list and and finding the example you need. If it is not there, download it from the manufacturer's web site or from a file archive.
If you have had to add any codecs, shut down and restart MedianSoft Joiner-Converter, to allow changes to be made to the system.
Once you have completed the preparatory work, you can get to grips with the actual work.
